Challenge: no. 5: Longer life for furniture
Problem: We focus on 3 main issues. 1. Something went wrong with the furniture and for the customer is difficult to identify the spare part he needed and where to easily get it 2. The furniture is in a good condition, but the customer wants to brighten up his home 3. The furniture is no longer matching the requirements of current user, but for the new one could be the perfect match
Solution: Promote identifying customer's products via QR code, Ikea family account or search among archived items. Base on claim analysis giving them after-sale options how to easily order missing parts online (+offer of repair sets), buy screws in a local store, print missing plastic parts (+how to connect with local printers), and offer tips how to brighten up old furniture.
Impact: QR code and Ikea family account will decrease the utility of the helpdesk, tips how to buy a screw in a local store, and printable models will help save the volume of unrentable parcels, lower volume of spare parts (based on sets) will shorten the lead times to customers and upscale furniture help lower the carbon foot-print.
Feasibility: All the data and infrastructure is out there (drawings, BoMs, claims analysis, etc.). We just need to connect them and provide customers smooth user flow. IKEA can save months of customer support time, thousands of miles in redundance customer journeys for spare parts and add years in discontinuous customer satisfaction.
What you built: Design smooth customer journey + E2E IKEA internal process. Website improvements. New custom design of a furniture (we can bring to H40) Desing of spare parts (we can bring to H40)
What you had before: Only ethusiasm and IKEA in our hearts. We chose this challenge during the first day of GreenHack.
What comes next: Pilot it with the customers and go live. We want to involve customers into green thinking, improve skills how to repair the furniture. Feel IKEA as a partner in sustainable life.
