Challenge: no. 6: Closing the loop (only for CZ & SK teams)
Problem: - Labeling system of packaging of chemicals complicated, doesn't work universally and is outdated (mostly paper-based) - Lower than desired recycling rates of packaging of chemicals
Solution: - Mobile web app accessed via QR code or NFC tag - These track useful information about the packaging and its contents which are then provided to the user via the app https://www.figma.com/proto/fWwUqF5lHQZz8VgiUwD376/Kemika?page-id=0%3A1&node-id=21%3A7249&viewport=404%2C-314%2C0.18532127141952515&frame-preset-name=iPhone%2011%20Pro%20%2F%20X&scaling=scale-down
Impact: - Prevents injuries by educating users about precautions to handling the chemicals - Provides quick access to relevant help during a spill, fire, ingestion of chemicals and other accidents - Tracks use of packaging across time - Eases the process of recycling to the user (a point system with rewards could be built on top) - A more universal solution to chemical compounds’ labeling, as the app is able to provide information in any language without additional physical content
Feasibility: - Software shouldn’t present any new challenges and so be easy and cheap to develop fully - QR code almost zero costs, NFC chip (in case that Bar code and QR is unreadable) cost $ 0,1 – 0,15 (based on amount) - BASF will be able to apply these codes after minor upgrade during filling/refilling process - BASF could easily provide - We will need to obtain information from BASF about their products and localised text
What you had before: Nothing
What comes next: We'd like to build a real and fully functional version of the product and then continue at the European stage of the BASF Innovation challenge and compete with talented entrepreneurs, designers and software engineers.
